BoilersHigh Efficiency Boilers

From April 1st 2005 all boilers installed or exchanged must be Band A High Efficiency Condensing Boilers. These come in Conventional or Combination Systems.

They look and work like Standard Efficiency Boilers but with one main difference. They have not one but two heat exchangers. With boilers around 80% of the gas consumed is converted to either heating or hot water. The remaining 20% gets pumped outside through the flue terminal, wasting at least 20% of the gas you are paying for. With condensing boilers the 20% waste is pumped back through the system where the consumer benefits. We have been installing these boilers for 20 years.

By switching to a Condensing Boiler with new controls savings of 30% - 40% can be made. Careful consideration should be considered when installing a Condensing Boiler because of plumage caused by the reduced temperature compared to a Standard Efficiency Boiler (50° compared to 300°). This makes it more visible and may cause a nuisance. These boilers can now be installed almost anywhere in the home with versatile fluing options from almost all of the boiler manufacturers, they can even be installed in the loft!
